He played college football for the University of Florida, and was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He participated in the United States. Army All-American Game. He was a Class 3A first-team all-state selection as linebacker as a senior.
McCray was chosen for the Florida All-Combine team in Jacksonville, and also played in the North/South All-Star Game.
