He moved to the United States in 1961, first working for Fairchild Semiconductor. He joined Intel Corporation when it was founded in 1968, he retired in 2003 as an executive vice president of the company. He was the fourth employee of Intel, hired directly by Andrew Grove.
He was the head of the metal–oxide–semiconductor design department where the first microprocessor, the Intel 4004 was developed.
He has been an innovator and strategic leader throughout Intel"s history.
