After graduate army physician. From 1923 worked at l.P.Pavlov’s laboratory, Institute of Experimental Medical 1927-1931 deputy director, 1931-1932 director, Institute of Experimental Medical
1932-1938 founder-director, All-Union Institute of Experimental Medical Founder-director, Laboratory of Higher Nervous Activity, Institute of Neurosurgery, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. Head, Chair of Higher Nervous Activity, Moscow University.
Took active part in work of Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. Did major research on the interaction of the stimulatory and inhibitory processes in experimentally-induced neuroses. Also did research on convulsive states.
Developed method of inducing experimental reflex epilepsy. Made electrocncephalographic neurophysiological analyses of the cerebral cortex in hypnotic and posthypnotic states. 1948-1950 chairman, Learned Medical Council, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Ministry of Health.
