Career
Levis Charles Arlington served in Chinese Navy and Customs. Also he worked as a Postal Commissioner, functioning as Chinese Secretary at the Directorate General of Posts in Beijing. From 1884 till 1885 he was in Franco-China War with Chinese Fleet. He served as a drill instructor for the Chinese Navy during this war. Arlington had Civil rank of the 5th class. Also, from 1879 till 1886 he served for three years in Northern fleet and four years with Southern or Nanyang fleet. Moreover, from 1886 till 1905 Levis Charles served in Imperial Maritime Customs. On leaving the Chinese Navy, he was decorated with the 5th button and war medal. In January, 1906 he joined Postal Administration.
