1916 graduate Oriental Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University. Studied under stage director of Alexandrine Theater and under stage director A. Sanin and I. Shmidt.
Career
1916 began stage work in Tiflis as actor and stage director 1921 founded Arm Shaumyan Theater in Tbilisi. Helped found Yerevan Sundukyan Theater and until 1928 chief stage director of this theater.
1928-1930 chief stage director, Baku Arm Theater. 1931 founded in Yerevan Gorky Workers’ Theater and until 1935 chief stage director of this theater. 1937-1943 and 1957-1959 chief stage director, Yerevan Russian Theater.
Also taught stagecraft. From 1944 professor, Yerevan Arts and Theater Institute. Wrote reviews and articles on theater.
