In 1968 Lewis Bogaty received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the George Washington University. In 1974 he obtained a Master of Arts degree from Ohio State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1976. In 1979 Bogaty gained a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Columbia University.
From 1974 to 1976 Lewis Bogaty was an instructor and lecturer at Ohio State University, Columbus. From 1980 to 1982 he served as an attorney at Kaye Scholer Fiermon Hays & Handler in New York. From 1984 to 1994 he was a senior executive editor at Matthew Bender Company.
Since 1995 he has worked at Public Wislew Publications in Ardsley. From 1987 to 1993 he was an adjunct instructor at New York Law School in New York. From 1998 to 2003 he was an editor of Americans with Disability Act, Workplace Report.
He contributed essays to Columbia Law Review in 1978 and to Virginia Quarterly Review in 2002.
