Career
Born in Wheatley Hill, County Durham, he spent most of his professional career at Birmingham, for whom he played 246 games in all competitions, including 230 in the First Division. In 1938 he moved on to Nottingham Forest, and retired during the Second World War. After football he worked for Wimbush"s bakery in Birmingham, and died in the city at the age of 69.
