Career
Born in, Meaney first excelled at hurling during his schooling at Saint Flannan"s College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the minor teams as a dual player, before later joining the under-21 sides. He joined the senior panel during the 1992-1993 National League.
At club level Meaney is a three-time championship medallist with Gaelic Athletic Association|.
He also played Gaelic football with Saint Michael"s while he began his career with. Meaney was later appointed general manager of City F. C.
