East Asia has been the major area of my concern, especially the leading role Japan played in the region’s economy. The new field of the design of mechanisms, especially the role of the incentive scheme in the developmental process, e.g. in China, attracts my research interest. Since 1980, visits to Southeast Asian countries, China, and India have rekindled my interest in Asian development.
