Lili De Hoyos Anderson is an individual, marriage, and family counselor who has written books on the topic.
Background
Anderson is a daughter of Arturo De Hoyos and his wife Genevieve. Her father is a native of Mexico and her mother was born in France. She was born in Eagle Pass, a community along the Texas/Mexico border, but soon after her father began his doctoral program at Michigan State University so she spent her early childhood in East Lansing.
Her father was then a professor of sociology, first for two years at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and then at the Indiana University Medical Extension in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Education
Both her parents then joined the Brigham Young University (Brigham Young University) faculty so she attended Provo High School, where she met Christian (Chris) B. Anderson, whom she would later marry.
Career
Anderson graduated magna cum laude in sociology in 1975, then became a full-time mother. During that time, her private practice grew and she eventually withdrew from teaching in order to have more time to write. Her husband Chris has worked for many years for Latter- Day Saints (Mormons) Family Services.
He has also represented Latter- Day Saints (Mormons) Family Services in the capacity of critical incident stress management in the aftermath of traumatic events, including the Columbine High School shootings, the Oklahoma F5 tornado, several hurricanes, the World Trade Center attack, the Indonesia tsunami, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
Among the books she has written are Family Foundations and Choosing Glory. The Andersons present together often on many subjects related to individual development, as well as marriage and family topics.
Anderson is a Latter-day Saint.
