Background

Moore, Lillian was born on September 20, 1911 in Chase City, Virginia, United States. Daughter of William Cabler and Margaret Watkins (Goode) Moore.

Education

Student Johns Hopkins. Studied dancing in Europe with Karsavina and Egorova, in New York, with Fokine, Vladimiroff, Vilzak, Balanchine, Galli, Weidman and Curtis.

Career

Made debut as solo dancer in William Tell, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, at age of 16. Appeared with American Ballet in concert, opera and motion pictures. New York concert debut, McMillan Theater of Columbia University, 1938.

Solo dancer Metropolitan Opera Company, 1939-1942. Prima ballerina Cincinnati Summer Opera, 1940-1945. Charles Wagner Opera, 1943.

Guest artist Fokine Ballet, 1940. Concert appearances with Albertina Vitak in Introduction to the Ballet, 1940-1945. Ballet mistress National Grand Opera Company, San Juan, P.R., 1941, Cincinnati Summer Opera, 1941-1945.

Newark, Hudson, Trenton and Hartford opera companies, 1943-1946. Toured Pacific for United Service Organizations, 1945-1946. Toured Hawaii and Pacific Islands, 1945-1946, Germany, Belgium, France and Austria, 1947.
