Career
Sampson has also been published by other South African titles. Style, Femina and Fair Lady. Outside of South Africa she has been published by the London Sunday Times, The Spectator, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph and The Independent.
She was a resident in Greece for several years and edited the English-language newspaper, Athens News.
In 2005 she published Now You"ve Gone and Killed Maine, a collection of columns dating back to 1982 and with a foreword written by Rian Malan. Sampson was born in India and moved to South Africa when she was 14.
Her father was a third-generation South African and her mother was British. She was partly educated in England followed by a period working in London.
She has also worked as an Africa correspondent, working in the Sudan in the 1980s.
