She plays as a goalkeeper for 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. Schmitz started playing football at Germania Zündorf and joined second division team Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2008. Being Bayer"s frist choice goalkeeper she helped her team getting promoted to the Bundesliga in 2010.
