Quotations: “I wrote two of my first three novels while working at a church, which may explain why I equate writing with spirituality. But my life as a writer was shaped first and foremost by romance. The actions and motives of my characters are infused by my own compulsion to establish abiding connections.”
Shapiro has been living with Lynne D’Orsay, her life-partner, since 1986.
