Besides being Count of Zutphen and Waldenburg, Liudolf was military commander of the army of the Archbishop of Cologne, and protector (Vogt) of the abbeys of Brauweiler, Münster and Borghorst. Liudolf married Matilda of Zutphen, by whom he had issue:
