Also represented Panama in Mission Universe 1991, the 40th Mission Universe pageant was held at Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts, Paradise, United States of America on May 17, 1991. De León, who is 5 ft 9 in (175 m) tall, competed in the national beauty pageant Señorita Panamá 1990, on September, 1990 and obtained the title of Señorita Panamá Universo. She represented Distrito Central state.
