Served in Royal Navy, 1862-1865. Joined 1st Life Guards, 1867. Transferred to Grenadier Guards, 1867.
Served with 2nd Battalion 799 Gren.
Guards in Egyptian campaign, 1882 (medal and Khedive star). A. District of Columbia (United States.) to Duke of Cambridge, 1883-1895.
Served South Africa, 1900, as Assistant Military Secretary to Sir Alfred Milner, and latterly on the staff of General French (medal and three clasps). Jubilee medal of 1887.
Colonel on Retired List.
