Lord Rupert Nevill, Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Doctor of Laws, Justice of the Peace was the younger son of Guy Larnach-Nevill, 4th Marquess of Abergavenny, and was vice-chairman of the National Playing-Fields Association from 1963, and Chairman of the British Olympic Association from 1966.
Career
Chairmanships included the Invalid Children"s Aid Association (1969), and the Sussex Army Cadets (1951-1968). He was vice-president of the Building Societies Association (1960), and the Sussex Boy Scouts (1950) and Sussex Boys" Clubs. Lord Rupert was Treasurer to the Duke of Edinburgh from 1970 to 1982 and his Private Secretary from 1976 to 1982.
Lord Rupert was a Justice of Peace of Sussex from 1953 and Deputy Lieutenant of Sussex in 1960.
Lord Rupert was High Sheriff of Sussex for 1952-1953.
Membership
He was president of the National Young Men’s Christian Association from 1966 (vice-chairman 1963-1966), and of the Metropolitan Union of Young Men’s Christian Association from 1956, and a member of the World Council of Young Men’s Christian Association from 1956. He was a member of the Sussex Street John"s Council from 1952 (chairman from 1966), and President of the Sussex Street John Ambulance Brigade (1961), the South Eastern Area Building Society (1960), the South Eastern Area Trustee Savings Bank (1964), and the Sussex Street John Ambulance Cadets (1952-1961). He was a member of the Uckfield Rural District Council 1949-1967, and of the Sussex County Council 1954-1967.
