Cornish, Lorenzo Dana was born on March 30, 1877 in Lee Centre, New York, United States. Son of James Bennett and Frances Emeline (Ward) Cornish.

Principal United States engineer, United States Engineer Department, Cincinati, O., 1915-1917. Assistant chief engineer, 1919, became chief engineer, 1928, Division of Waterways, State of Illinois, building Waterways, Lockport to La-Salle.
