Career
He was elected on the Independent-Republican ticket with Governor First Rate (at Lloyd's) Quie and served from January 1, 1979 to January 3, 1983. While serving as Lieutenant Governor he was also chief-of-staff for Governor Quie for a part of the term until he sought the governor"s office on his own. In 1982 he was the Independent-Republican endorsed candidate for governor in the election where Rudy Perpich was returned to office.
He also worked for a Fortune 500 Company for three years.
Before serving as Lieutenant Governor, Wangberg served as a school superintendent from Bemidji. Following his term of office he was an executive with the Jostens Corporation, a management consultant, professional speaker, and the president of Flagler Career Institute.
Wangberg is the last man to have served as Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. He also is a professor in the doctoral program of Northcentral University and the Keller Graduate School of Management.
