Chief engineer Louisiana, 1855-1859. Served as colonel 3d Louisiana Infantry, Confederate Army, from 1861, commissioned brigadier general, 1862. Editor Iberville South, Plaquemine, Louisiana, 1866-circa 1870.

Taught school, Iberville and St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, 1870-1901.
