Lisser, Louis was born on November 29, 1850 in Stettin, Germany. Son of Emil and Natalie Lisser.

Education

Educated in gymnasium, Stettin. Attended lectures, University of Berlin. Graduate Royal Academy of Arts, Royal High School of Music, Berlin, 1879.

(Doctor of Letters, Mills College, California, 1902).

Career

Appeared first in concerts and made concert tour through Prussian provinces, 1878-1879. Went to San Francisco, July 1879. Dean music department and professor music, Mills College, California, 1880-1910, professor emeritus, 1910.

Trustee Mills College, since 1900. President Musicians’ Club of San Francisco, 1893-1897 (founder), San Francisco Symphony Society, 1897-1898, San Francisco Guild of Arts and Crafts, 1898.
