Edinburgh. Apprenticed to lithography. Studied in Royal Scottish Academy and Board of Manufacturers’ Schools.
Exhibited iirst picture in the Royal Scottish Academy, 1888. One of the originators of the Scottish Society of Artists. Began illustrated journalism on the Edinburgh Evening Dispatch.
Devoted much time to black and white work for the principal London and provincial press. The original drawings of Archdeacon Sinclair’s book on St. Paul’s, purchased by the Board of Education for the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington. Principal works: Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee procession from the dome of St. Paul’s, the property of the Brigade of Guards and placed in the Albany Barracks at Windsor.
The Call to Arms, purchased by the London Scottish Rifle Volunteers. For Queen and Country, reproduced in photogravure and purchased privately. London the Beautiful, 20 ft. canvas, exhibited in Hanover Gallery. Artist.
