Background
Luca Minoli was born on January 29, 1961, in Naples, a major port city in southern Italy. His academic and professional life subsequently centred on Milan, the regional capital of Lombardy and one of Italy's leading financial and business centers.
Education
Minoli studied law at the University of Milan, receiving a law degree magna cum laude in 1985. The institution, known in Italian as Università degli Studi di Milano or La Statale, was founded in 1924 by Luigi Mangiagalli as the Royal University of Milan. It was formed from two earlier institutions, the Scientific-Literary Academy and the Clinical Institutes, and began with four faculties, including Law.

Minoli's early professional experience included a period in New York, where he worked as an associate at Hughes Hubbard & Reed from 1986 to 1987. Founded in 1888, the firm counted among its partners Charles Evans Hughes, who later became Chief Justice of the United States.
He then began his career in Milan at Studio Legale Ardito, first as an associate, and became a partner there in 1991. The studio was founded in Milan in 1981 by lawyer Mauro Ardito and works in labor, banking and corporate law.
