Lucia Moholy was born in Austria.
Lucia studied English language and literature at Prague University in Prague, Czech Republic. Also, she studied photography and history of photography at the Academy of Graphic Art in Leipzig, Germany, and design and photography at the Bauhaus in Weimar, Dessau, Germany.
Since 1960 Lucia lived in Switzerland. Her professional career consisted of teaching language, history of art and history of photography. She was, at one time, head teacher of photography at Itten School of Art in Berlin, Germany. For a time she was the stage photographer at the State Opera in Berlin, Germany, until 1931.
In 1934 Moholy moved to England, where she established a portrait studio. With Dr. Arundell Esdaile she organized the British Microfilm Service. She served as a UNESCO consultant in the Middle East, then as a consultant for medical libraries for World Health Organization. For several years Moholy was a contributor to London's Burlington Magazine and Switzerland's Werk and Archithese.
Lucia Moholy was married to László Moholy-Nagy.
