Luigi Jannuzzi was born on the 12th of November, 1952 in Bound Brook, New Jersey, United States; the son of Louis and Virginia Ann (Curcio) Jannuzzi.
As a child, Jannuzzi studied at Bound Brook High School. Then he entered Raritan Valley Community College. Luigi received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Theology from Salem University in 1975. He also obtained a Master of Arts degree in Ethics from the University of Notre Dame in 1977.
Luigi Jannuzzi began his career as a Teacher of Creative Writing and Public Speaking at Immaculata High School in 1978-2004. He also worked as a claims adjustor and realtor.
Jannuzzi's first produced and published play was “A Bench at the Edge” in 1982. Among his other plays are “The Barbarians Are Coming” in 1986, “The Appointment” in 1996, “With or Without You” in 1997, “Night of the Foolish Moon” in 1999, “For the Love of Juliet!” in 2004.
Luigi is a contributor of comic monologue to National Public Radio, 1999 and to poetry anthology Antologia del nuovo mondo, Edizioni Algol, 1992.
Luigi Jannuzzi is a fourteen-time finalist in Samuel French One-Act Competition in New York City, a finalist in Turnip Theatre American Globe Theatre Festival in New York City and in the Orlando Shakespeare Festival.
Jannuzzi’s one-act plays, such as “A Bench at the Edge” and “The Barbarians Are Coming” are winners of the Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Play Festival, provide staple fare for college and community productions, and have received critical acclaim from major publications in the US and abroad. Additional one-act plays from Mr. Jannuzzi include The Appointment and With or Without You.
Luigi received the New Jersey State Council of the Arts fellowship in 1987 for “A Bench at the Edge” and in 1999 for “Night of the Foolish Moon”. He is a Samuel French One-Act Competition winner for “The Appointment” in 1995 and in 1996 for “With or Without You”. Luigi earned Best One-Act in Ireland Designation in 1999, and Best One-Act in Scotland and the United Kingdom Designation in 2001 both for “A Bench at the Edge”.
