Her paternal grandparents were Charles Louis, Hereditary Prince of Baden and Landgravine Amalie of Hesse-Darmstadt. Her only two surviving siblings were Josephine, Princess of Hohenzollern (mother of Carol I of Romania and Queen Stephanie of Portugal) and Marie, Duchess of Hamilton.
