He was drafted in 2010 by the Adelaide Crows as their 1st pick in the rookie draft. He plays as a defender but can also play up forward if needed. He has currently had three guernsey numbers 1, 28 and currently 6.
He is able to fly a helicopter.
Thompson was delisted at the conclusion of the 2014 American Federation of Labor-Congress season.
