Williams grew up in Fife, Scotland and divides his time between London and Edinburgh. He studied history at Edinburgh University and Street Andrews University and completed an Master of Arts in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia taught by West. G. Sebald who influenced him greatly, Williams contributing a chapter to Saturn"s Moons: A West.G. Sebald Handbook.
