Luree Miller

Mrs. Miller was born in Seattle, Washington, United States, on February 10, 1926.

Career

Starting from 1946 Luree Miller helped her husband with his trucking business in Alaska after their marriage. Mr. Miller’s husband joined the U.S. Information Agency in 1957, and the couple traveled broadly before they settled in Washington in 1973. Miller’s earliest books were all set in India and include Bala, Child of India (1962), Gurkas and Ghosts: The Story of a Boy in Nepal (1964), and The Black Hat Dances.

Achievements

• Mr. Miller is perhaps best remembered for her travel writing, describing her many trips to Europe, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent, and her work on pioneering women explorers.
