Starting from 1946 Luree Miller helped her husband with his trucking business in Alaska after their marriage. Mr. Miller’s husband joined the U.S. Information Agency in 1957, and the couple traveled broadly before they settled in Washington in 1973. Miller’s earliest books were all set in India and include Bala, Child of India (1962), Gurkas and Ghosts: The Story of a Boy in Nepal (1964), and The Black Hat Dances.
