Well known in France as a benefactor of various famous causes (the restoration of the Palace of Versailles, the Museum of the Legion d’Honneur and others). Freely gave aid to the Russian refugee community, which was used to repair many churches, including the Russian cathedral in Paris, and to found and finance a Russian high school in Paris between World War I and World War II.
