Career

Entered army, 1862, as captain. Engaged in 14 of the historic battles from Gettysburg to the capture of Petersburg. 3 times wounded; bvtd. for gallantry by President Lincoln and retired at close of war as lieutenant colonel, commanding regiment Editor Middlebury, Vermont, Register, 1865-1878.

Editorial contributor to American Law Register and Chicago Inter Ocean. Correspondent Associated Press, etc. Practiced law, since 1876.

One of clerks Vermont House of Representatives, 1872-1873. Judge of probate, Addison district, Vermont, 1879-1889. Member Vermont House of Representatives, 1884-1885.
