Lardner is a partner at Foley & Lardner, working in the firm's Milwaukee office at the First Wisconsin Center. The firm traces its origins to 1842, when it was founded as Finch & Lynde. Its early founders included Asahel Finch Jr., a Republican and former Michigan state representative, and William Pitt Lynde, a Democrat who later served in the United States House of Representatives, the Wisconsin state legislature, and as mayor of Milwaukee.
The firm adopted the name Foley & Lardner LLP in 1969 and then pursued a series of acquisitions to become a national law firm. The present name refers to two earlier name partners, Leon Foley and Lynford Lardner Jr., who are credited with launching the firm's large national expansion. Today Foley & Lardner practices in areas including intellectual property, business law, litigation, and regulatory work, and its Milwaukee office remains the firm's largest.
Health law is one of the practice areas associated with Lardner. The firm's health care practice group works with hospitals, health systems, digital health entities, and other providers on transactions, regulatory matters, and compliance. Lardner's real estate practice area reflects the firm's broader business and transactional work.
