Career
He also served as head coach at Saint Mary"s College (California), Iowa State, Central Missouri State, and Southwest Baptist University. He played college basketball at the University of Washington, and became an honorable mention all-American. Nance went on to be selected in the fourth round of the 1965 National Basketball Association Draft by the Saint Louis Hawks.
Unfortunately, a knee injury ended his professional career before he ever played a game for Saint Louis.
He was also an assistant coach at the University of Kentucky, and Fresno State. Aside from his career as a coach, Nance also served as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as working as an assistant director for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Nance drew upon his experience as an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent to write a novel titled Bridger:Deadly Peril.
