Career
Talley is Professor of Physical Oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She is a seagoing oceanographer and served as chief scientist on several hydrography cruises.

From 2004–2007 she was a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group and a lead author for one of the chapters of the group"s final report.
