Lyudmila Vladimirovna Velichkova

Background

Lyudmila Velichkova (born Martynova) was born on July 27, 1946, in Izyum, Kharkov Region, Ukraine. Her parents were employees.

Education

Graduated from the German department of the Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology of the Voronezh State University (1970).

Career

Since 1970, the teacher, assistant professor, professor, head (since 2001) of the Department of German Philology of Voronezh State University. Head of the Scientific and Methodological Center of Phonetics at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology of the Voronezh State University (since 1993).

Achievements

• Author of more than 90 scientific publications, including monographs: "Contrastive-phonological analysis and teaching foreign pronunciation" (Voronezh, 1989), "Intonation and language consciousness" (Voronezh, 2001, together with others). A number of works are published in German.

Interests

• Her main scientific interests are: contrastive phonology, phonostylistics, psycholinguistics, a method of teaching foreign pronunciation based on sign-character gestures.
