Career
He was elected as a president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha held in 1989 at Doomdooma. He was awarded with most notably with the Padma Shri, Sahitya Akademi Award and Assam Valley Literary Award. He is an Master of Arts in Assamese literature from Gauhati University and had been a teacher in the Nowgong College for most of his teaching career.
He has now retired and lives at Nagaon.
Bora spent a good part of his childhood in the culture-rich surroundings of rural Nagaon.

Padma Shri; Sahitya Akademi Award Sahitya Akademi Award; Padma Shri Padma Shri award in 2011 in the field of Literature and Education by the Government of India Sahitya Akademi Award in 2001 for his novel Edhani Mahir Hahi.
