Mahmud Francis Namık Osmanoğlu, also known by the Ottoman imperial name as Prince Şehzade Mahmud Francis Namık Efendi, is the only child of Prince Ömer Abdülmecid Osmanoğlu and Beulah Hanımefendi, née Banbury, and great-great grandson of Sultan Mehmed V, the 35th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.
Education
He attended Gulliver Preparatory High School in Miami, Florida and Mougins School in Mougins, in the southern part of France. He then obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communications from Parsons Paris School of Art and Design (Paris, France) and an Master of Fine Arts degree in Design and Technology from Parsons The New School for Design (New York City, United States of America).
Career
Mahmud Efendi was born in London on 27 April 1975. In 2006, family members met at Dolmabahçe Palace for the presentation of the documentary "Osmanoğlu"nun Exile" produced by TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation). lieutenant then follows the stories of their descendants, who now live in Turkey, Europe, the United States and throughout the Middle East.
At the funeral of Ertuğrul Osman, an heir to the Ottoman throne, in September 2009 thousands of mourners paid their respects, a show of reverence which historians said was a seminal moment in the rehabilitation of the Ottoman Empire, overthrown by the modern, secular Turkish Republic created by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923.
In July 2010 Princess Ayşe Gülnev Sultan held a party to celebrate the 70th birthday of her father Prince (Şehzade) Osman Selaheddin Osmanoğlu.
Membership
This documentary followed the stories of the members of the Ottoman family who went into exile in 1924, following the establishment of the Turkish Republic and the abolition of the Ottoman Caliphate. This event was attended by a number of members of the Ottoman family, including Sultanzade Prince Ali bin Naif of Jordan and Sultanzade Prince Abbas Hilmi.
