He last played for Football Club SKA-Energiya Khabarovsk. He is the older brother of Sergei Kabanov. A youth product of Football Club Spartak Moscow, he joined Football Club Voronezh on loan in February 2002.
In December 2003, he signed a 5-year contract with Football Club Torpedo Moscow.
He played 2 games in the Union of European Football Associations Champions League 2001-2002 for Football Club Spartak Moscow.
