Underground Party work in Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Tula and Saint St. Petersburg. Frequently arrested and exiled for revol activities. Active in 1905-1907 Revol.
1907-1910 studied at Leipzig University. 1910 returned to Russia. 1911 — 13 in Saint St. Petersburg edited journal “Prosveshcheniye" and member, ed staff, newspaper “Pravda”.
1913-1917 underground Party work in Voronezh, Khar’kov, Moscow Kiev, et cetera 1917 member, Kiev Party Committee. Presidium member and secretary, Kiev Soviet of Workers and Soldiers’ Deputy.
Delegation at 7th (April) All-Russian Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Conference and 6th Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Congress. At time of October 1917 Revol head, cd bd “Rabochiy put'”. Then exec Party and government work.
Edited various newspapers, including “Ekonomicheskaya zhizn’” and “Kommunist”. 1921-1922 member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Economic Council and ed, journal “Narodnoye khozyaystvo”. 1921-1927 ed, “Torgovo-promyshlennaya gazeta”.
1926-1928 deputy head, Commission for Party History, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and ed, journal "Narodnoye khozyaystvo”. “Prolelarskaya revolyutsiya”. 1928-1932 director, Lenin Institute and member, editorial board, newspaper “Pravda”.
Member, Chied Editor Board for Lenin’s Works. 1929 ed, newspaper “Izvestiya TsIK USSR i VTslK”. 1930 ed, newspaper "Pravda”.
From 1931 deputy chairman. Communist Academy; from 1936 deputy director, Institute of Marx, Engels and Lenin. Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
At 16th Party Congress elected candidate member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Wrote numerous works on Party history. Arrested by State Security organs.
