Manoranjan Datta graduated from Chittagong College in 1925 as Honorary Bachelor of Science, Master of Science in Physics. Graduated with gold Medal from Calcutta University in 1927 and Master of Science in Technology at Manchester University in 1935. He got Doctor of philosophy from Edinburgh University in 1950.
Career
Manoranjan Datta had done research work on High Voltage Engineering and Electricity, especially in Power Supply.Received practical training with Metropolitan Vickers Electricity Company and B.I.Cables Ltd. He was President at Indian Science Congress (Engineering and Metallurgical Section ) in 1959. Specially interested in High Voltage Technology and Electricity power supply. Till death worked as Chief Engineer in West Bengal State Electricity Board. Toured UK many times.
