Taught in Madrid and at the University of Tucumán in Argentina.
Among the philosophers whose works Garcia Morente translated into Spanish are Kant, Husserl and Brentano. He collaborated with Jose Ortega y Gasset on the Revista de Occidente and is responsible for bringing the term Erlebnis into Spanish as vivencia. García Morente anguished over questions of God and nothingness for many years, ultimately deciding to leave his family 10 enter the seminary in 1938. In his Idea de Id Hispanidad (1941) he outlines his concept of the ‘Christian gentleman’ as a Hispanic ideal.
