Career
At one time professor of mathematics in the National Institute of Santiago. Chilean delegate to the First South American Railroad Congress of Buenos Aires, 1910. Professor in the Schools of Architecture and Engineering of the University of Chile until 1918.
Foreign 8 years dean of the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Chile.
Formerly director of the Schools of Architecture and Engineering of the same. Engineer of the Department of Public Works and of the National State Railways.
Director-general of the National State Railways until 1918. On a technical mission to the United States, 1922.
National senator, 1926.
Vice-president and later president of the Radical Party. President of the Third South American Railroad Congress of Santiago, 1929. Minister of the Interior.
Acting President of Chile, 1931.
Ambassador to the United States since 1933.
