Marappa studied at University Madras at the faculty of chemistry. Marappa became a Bachelor of Science.
Later, he became a Master of Science in the sphere of Physical Chemistry. Marappa was a student of the Indian Institute of Science, he received a degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
