He graduated from Brodhead High School and holds degrees in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Bachelor of Science) and Johns Hopkins University (Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy).
Currently he is a professor in the Environmental Engineering program at UW–Madison. Doctor Anderson is advisor - principal research at the IMDEA Energy Institute.
