In 1997, Cartwright graduated from New York University where he studied semantics and the relationship between media and society. During his last semester of attending New York University, Cartwright discovered photography through fulfilling an art requirement associated with his Bachelor of Science degree.
Career
He is known for portraits of film and television actors. Cartwright appeared in commercials and print ads for such clients as Coca Cola, Arrid and Tommy Hilfiger. In 2002, he appeared on the cover of Instinct"s 5th anniversary issue, where he began paying particular attention to the production side of image making.
Marc Cartwright"s work has been published in magazines such as Details, Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Oklahoma! and People.
Cartwright has appeared on Music Television as a featured photographer and has photographed movie posters and Digital Video Disc covers for various films. Celebrities photographed by Cartwright include Shailene Woodley, Ariana Grande, Marsha Gay Harden, Lou Diamond Phillips, Penn Badgley, Jessalyn Gilsig, James Van Der Beek, Tia Mowry, Kaitlin Olson, Tony Ward.
