Marcia received Bachelor in Education from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 1968 and Master of Arts in English in 1970.
Marcia was a Freelance writer with articles published in New Woman, Family Circle, More, Newsday, Newsday Magazine, The New York Times in 1983. Between 1985 and 1993 editor-in-chief of "The Women’s Record". Teacher of courses entitled "The Memoirist’s Art and Creative Non-Fiction" Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York, since 1993 till present. From 1997 till 2009 she worked as a columnist and feature writer for monthly magazine "Distinction". From 1997 till 2003 she was a freelance writer for the Long Island section of the Sunday New York Times. Byalick was also a monthly contributor to Beinggirl.com, a Procter and Gamble website for adolescent girls from 2001 till 2010.
Byalick has sixteen awards from Long Island Press Club between 1987 and 2012 for work as a columnist. Her book "It’s a Matter of Trust" was selected as one of the best books for teenagers according to New York Public Library in 1996. Her book "Quit It" was chosen as one of Bank Street College of Education's Best Children's Books of 2003.
