After finishing secondary school, Ferreri enrolled in the veterinary faculty, but soon abandoned his studies to devote himself to cinema.

In 1950 he developed Documento Mensile for the Italian cinema. This short-lived film-magazine was similar in style to a newsreel, but dealt with the news in the film industry. Ferreri directed many films, several of which were released in the United States. Marco died of a heart attack on May 9, 1997 in Paris, France.
