As a young man, he served as a missionary in the church"s El Salvador San Salvador Mission. They knew each other growing up, having lived in the same neighborhood since Nash was about eight years old. They are the parents of five children.
Nash worked on the construction of the Seattle Washington Temple during the summer of 1979.
He received a bachelor"s degree in international relations and a law degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Nash served first as a counselor and then as president of the church"s South America West Area.
He also served as president of the South America Northwest Area. Beginning in 2011, he assists in administration of the North America Northeast Area and as Assistant Executive Director of the Church History Department.
In April 2006, Nash became a general authority and member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
