Background
Maresuke Nogi was born on 25 December 1849 in the Mori family residence in Edo. He was a son of Nogi Maretsugu, a samurai of the domain of Choshu.

Maresuke Nogi was appointed a member of the Military Council and president of the Peers' School in 1907.
He committed hara-kiri to follow the Emperor to the other world.
